In the Design, Development and Fabrication of Novel Materials and Devices

1. Organic synthesis

The Materials Node offers expertise and facilities for the development and scale-up of a wide variety of organic materials.  There are available capabilities in multigram synthesis, high pressure synthesis, high and low temperature reactions, inert atmosphere manipulations, continous flow reactions, material purification and characterisation.

2. Material characterisation

Expertise is available in the Node for an extensive range of spectroscopic, analytical and microscopy equipment.  These include a wide variety of electrochemical apparatus such as a Bruker EMX ESR/EPR spectrometer with electrochemical capability, electrochemical Raman spectrometer and Scanning Vibrating Electrochemical probe, ultraviolet, visible and infrared spectrometers, and SEM, TEM and AFM microscopes.  The full list of equipment is available(pdf 1600KB).
